Manage Dates Tool


Note: Using the Manage Dates tool for Assignments and Quiz items adjusts the start and end date access. Students can see these items, but not access them until the dates you set in Manage Dates. Using the Manage Dates tool is recommended for Discussions, Quizzes and Assignments items. Setting Start and End Dates on Content and Grade items is not generally recommended as it can interrupt the ability of students to see important information in the course.

How Do I...

Access the Manage Dates Tool?

  1. Click Course Admin.
  2. Locate and click the Manage Dates Tool. The Manage Dates screen opens.

Manage  Discussion, and Grade Item VISIBILITY with the Manage Dates Tool?

  1. Access the Manage Dates tool.
  2. If desired, use the Filter Options to select to show specific items (Content, Discussions, Grades) and click Apply Filter.
  3. Locate the Content, Discussion, or Grade item you want to adjust visibility for - mouse over the individual item and select its drop-down menu and select Edit Dates or Offset Dates.
  4. To Edit Dates, in the Edit Dates pop-up, enter the new Start and End date for visibility and click Save.
  5. Or, to Offset Dates, enter the number of days to offset in either the Offset Both Dates (Days) or Offset Dates Separately boxes provided. Tip: Click the calculator icon to determine the number of days to offset dates between two relative dates and click Insert the offset day number will appear in the associated box. Click Save.

Manage Assignments and Quiz ACCESS Dates (Start and End) with the Manage Dates Tool?

  1. Access the Manage Dates tool.
  2. Use the Filter Options to select to show specific items (Assignments, Quiz) and click Apply Filter.
  3. Locate the Assignments or Quiz item you want to adjust access for - mouse over the individual item and select its drop-down menu and select Edit Dates or Offset Dates.
  4. To Edit Dates, in the Edit Dates pop-up, enter the new Start and End date for visibility and click Save.
    Note: Assignments Dates also include a Due Date. If the Due Date and End Date are not set the same students may access a Assignments after the desired end date. Due Dates can be set directly from Edit Assignments
  5. Or, to Offset Dates, enter the number of days to offset in either the Offset Both Dates (Days) or Offset Dates Separately boxes provided. Tip: Click the Offset Dates Calculator icon to determine the number of days to offset dates between two relative dates and click Insert the offset day number will appear in the associated box. Click Save.

Use the Manage Dates Tool Basic and Advance Filter Options?

  1. Access the Manage Dates tool.
  2. Under Filter Options select the radio-circles to make a basic filter selection:
  3. All: Lists all items from all tools.
  4. Specific Tools: Lists only items you select the checkbox for in the list of available tool items.
  5. Click the Advanced Filter Options link to open advanced filtering options. From here, you can select to filter items by Name, Start Date and End Date, Duration, and Schedule Status.
  6. After making your filter selections, click the Apply Filter button. The pages refreshes applying your filter and listing filtered items at the bottom of the page.

Use the Manage Dates Tool to Edit Multiple Items at Once?

  1. Access the Manage Dates tool.
  2. Filter items as needed using the Filter Options>Click to select the checkbox next to individual items to edit OR select the top most checkbox to select all listed items
  3. Click the Edit Dates option at the top of the filter table
  4. From the Bulk Edit window>Select edit changes as desired for Start and End dates and add to Calendar option
  5. Click the Save button
  6. Click the Done button to exit Manage Dates

Use the Manage Dates Tool to Offset Dates for Multiple Items at Once?

  1. Access the Manage Dates tool.
  2. Filter items as needed using the Filter Options. Then, click to select the checkbox next to individual items to edit OR select the top most checkbox to select all listed items.
  3. Click the Offset Dates option at the top of the filter table
  4. Select the Offset and Days option from the dropdown menu. Enter the number of days to offset the start and/or end dates.
  5. Click the Save button in the Offset Dates pop-up. The screen refreshes and the settings take effect.
  6. Click Done to exit Manage Dates

Use the Manage Dates Tool to Show or Not Show Items in the Calendar Tool?

  1. Access the Manage Dates tool.
  2. In the Calendar column adjust the Calendar visibility by clicking the checkbox; on (checked) or off (unchecked)

OR,...

  1. To change the Calendar visibility for multiple items click the checkbox to the left of item names > Click the Edit Dates option at the top of the filter table > Click the Display in Calendar checkbox and choose remove from calendar in the dropdown menu
  2. Click Done to exit Manage Dates
